KidConnect funds are available when other funding options have been exhausted. CAAs/GALs and other parties in the dependency system may apply for assistance in writing, either through the KidConnect website, www.kidconnect-pierce.org or directly with any KidConnect Board member. All requests are subject to available funds and require approval by the KidConnect Board.

Housing

Application for assistance with deposits for rent and/or utilities may be made when needed to secure or maintain safe housing for a dependent child. To apply:

1. The applicant must include a copy of the rental agreement/utility bill or other similar evidence of the amount(s) needed. In the event that the landlord isn't willing or able to provide a copy until the deposit is paid in full, the board can waive this requirement with a majority vote.

2. Upon approval payment will only be made directly to the landlord or utility.

3. Refunded deposits should be returned to KidConnect.

CAA Travel Stipends

CAAs who currently advocate for a dependent child placed out of state may apply for assistance with airfare to visit the child. To apply the CAA must provide the following information:

1. The city and state where the child is placed, and the expected duration of the placement,

2. The reasons for the desired visit,

3. The preferred dates for travel, and

4. The best available airfare for those dates.

Final approval is subject to agreement on a specific itinerary with a designated carrier. Payment must be made to the airline; KidConnect does NOT reimburse CAAs.

Other Requests

Assistance for unmet medical, dental, or other needs of dependent children and adolescents, including by way of example, orthodontics, contact lenses or specialty glasses, tutoring, laptops, furniture or sports and activity fees may be requested by submitting a request either through the KidConnect website www.kidconnect-pierce.org or directly with any KidConnect Board member containing the following:

1. Information sufficient to identify the service provider including contact information,

2. Retailer or source for material items and the price of the item,

3. Purchases/payments must be made by KidConnect; KidConnect does NOT reimburse CAAs
     or Caregivers.
